Every once in a while, I have to take the long way around the short path to get to where I'm going.
My Sims game started that crashing every 20 minutes shit and instead of doing the 50/50 method and all that crap.. I created a new account on my machine and started an entirely new game. The only content I copied over was my hacks folder and my hairs. And the hairs folder I cut down from over a gig to 863 MB. That's pretty fucking good actually. Of course, I now have 5million+ recolors of 10 hair meshes, but whatever. (That's both a gross overestimate and a gross understatement respectively). The only other thing I'm copying over are the clothing conversions and custom skintones I made for my self-sim and Damien.
Anyway.. what I'm doing is recreating Darkness Falls in total grungy glory. You see, I've never used the DIRT terrain on a 'hood, so I didn't know after only 500 years of playing this game that the DIRT is actually dirt and GRASS. And quite suitable for a grunged 'hood. For some reason, when I saw dirt, I thought desert. I don't know. Occasionally, I have these issues. So, Darkness Falls 3.0, for the first time completed and as dirty and dead looking as a dying cape town is supposed to be. And of course, I'll have to add Autumn Bay as one of the sub-hoods. I was using the Carnen 'hood because I quite love it, but it's a lush terrain.. so, there ya go. And it really is entirely too large for a town as small as DF.
So, I have a new terrain.. a MUCH more versatile terrain. I've installed only my grunged up lots and I'm only installing a handful of sims aside from my usual suspects. I have well over 200 custom sims I've downloaded. That's just too damn many. I'm down from a 6GB DL folder to 2GB which means.. TWO MINUTE LOAD TIMES! No exxaggeration. (I was only taking 10 to load previously, but still.. I'm impatient dammitt).
There's a lot of shit I had that I don't even remembering having had.. a lot of sims I just flat out didnt recognize in my sim bin (and for me to start forgetting who's who, there's a serious issue.. I have a mind like a steel trap for that kind of detail) and a ton of hairs I never used. I got some basic cosmetics, eyes and skins from my favorite creators. I raped Aikea and Gelydh as well as GoS for my clothes, walls, floors and objects. And I'm not installing FUCK ALL ELSE unless it comes on a Sim or in a lot.
I swear.
Now, let's see how long I actually stick to that, shall we? :)
